About Virginia SOL test prep
The Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL) assessments measure student progress against the commonwealth's curriculum, approved by the Virginia Board of Education. The current testing framework uses the 2023 VDOE standards, which replaced the 2016 English and 2017 math frameworks.
Every ZeroRetake Virginia SOL book is authored against the official reporting categories and item specifications VDOE publishes. Reading passages match the grade-appropriate Lexile band. Math questions follow the test's calculator policy (non-calculator items first, calculator-active items second, starting Grade 6). Science questions use the same four-choice multiple-choice format Virginia uses at Grades 5, 8, and the high-school Biology / Chemistry / Earth Science EOCs.
Who these books are for
- Parents who want practice at the actual test's level without digging through VDOE release items.
- Teachers building a Grade 4-8 SOL prep block and needing full-length tests that align to the 2023 standards.
- Tutors working one-on-one with students who need targeted practice by reporting category.
- Students reviewing independently, with answer explanations that teach the trap patterns SOL items reuse.
