About California CAASPP test prep

The California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) is California's statewide assessment system. It measures student achievement against the California Common Core State Standards for ELA and Math, and the California Next Generation Science Standards for Science.

CAASPP bundles two distinct tests: the Smarter Balanced Summative Assessment — a computer-adaptive test (CAT) paired with a performance task (PT) for ELA and Math, Grades 3-8 and 11 — and the California Science Test (CAST), a fixed-form computer-based test given at Grades 5, 8, and once during high school.

Every ZeroRetake California CAASPP book is authored against the official claims and reporting categories the California Department of Education publishes. ELA passages match the grade-appropriate Lexile bands in CCSS Appendix A. Math items follow the calculator policy (non-calculator at Grades 3-5; calculator permitted at Grades 6-8 and 11). CAST items are built around NGSS three-dimensional performance expectations.
